Out of your comfort zone

Meeting new people and putting yourself out there is probably one of the hardest things to do. Some people find it easy peasy as they are outgoing and love meeting new people. On the other hand, there are people that move abroad that don't know how to make friends and go to events because they have had the same friends for as long as they can remember. It's also a lot harder when you move abroad because there might be a language barrier and people in different countries/cultures do things differently. I consider myself an outgoing person, but when it came to making friends here in Barcelona, I hadn't a notion where to start or what to do. I knew I would meet people through work but I find it important to also have mates outside of work. I was told about 2 apps that have helped me a lot over here. The first one is `Bumble´ . On this app, you can choose if your looking for dates, for people to ne twork with or friends to meet for a coffee or drink. It's like Tinder

O ne of the main things that helped me when I moved over here was Counselling/Therapy. I went to counselling for about a year and a half when I lived at home. I realized its more than just a physical preparation of packing my things and booking flights, I never prepared myself mentally. I didn't think I needed to go back to counselling, that I should be equipped for dealing with al

Lemme explain: As most of you will know, my name is Isabel and I moved to Barcelona 4 months ago. For those of you who don't know me I'm Isabel, I'm 23 and I moved from Galway, Ireland to Barcelona in September to teach English to Spanish people. I came to Barcelona in summer 2018 for a week and I knew I wanted to live here at some point in my life. The opportunity came up, I packed my bags and left my comfort zone of Galway. Barcelona is amazing whether it's summer or winter. There are so many things to do and you would never get bored of being here but... It was probably one of the hardest things I had to do mentally, alone and completely unprepared. I found it very hard, being alone, not knowing anyone, being away from family and friends, I became low and really anxious. This was th
